The Tru7h About Co-Op in Halo 3

July 31, 2007 5:31 PM

Bungie has revealed the "truth" about Co-op in Halo 3, that 4-player co-op in Halo 3 will be possible over system link or Xbox Live.

"Not two player co-op. Not three-player co-op, but up to four player co-op. Online. On Xbox Live, or sure, System Link if you prefer. That is correct – up to four player co-op in Campaign mode on Xbox Live or System Link. We’ve been playing it for quite some time, and bluntly, having some of our greatest ever Halo experiences. We wanted to make sure all our “t”s were crossed and our “i”s dotted before unveiling this important new part of Halo 3’s Campaign mode."

Halo 3 Public Beta Review

Review for Halo 3 Beta
By: Herbz

Graphics:
Graphics have been given a good upgrade in the Halo 3 Beta, especially if you play it in HD. The detail of animation is significantly improved, and while it may not be noticeable at first, it is a major improvement. Map size feels right, unlike in Halo 2 where the size of the character lead maps to feel too big or too little. Character design for Master Chief is amazing, with utmost attention to detail. The improvement in Graphics definitely makes the Halo 3 Beta stand out from its predecessor.

Gameplay:
The gameplay of Halo 3 still feels the way it should and still plays the same as the other two Halo games. I believe the most significant impact in gameplay is the way that Halo 3 sticks to its roots, with a combination of both Halo 2 and Halo 1. Beyond first impressions, the most significant impact to the gameplay mechanism is the change in the control scheme. It may feel awkward at first to not be using the “X” button to reload and board vehicles, but eventually the individual reloading of guns comes just as easy as “X”.

Weapons and Vehicles:
The beta contains some all new vehicles and weapons, and some returnees from the original Halo 1 game. The Spartan laser is by far my most enjoyed addition to the Halo 3 weapons list, and using it is both fun and challenging. The default starting weapon is the assault rifle (from Halo 1), and although it has had a power boost, it still is not quite worthy of being that all-around type weapon. The BR remains my weapon of choice for the H3 Beta. The only new addition to the vehicles list in the Beta is the Mongoose. This ATV type vehicle is small and fun to drive and while mostly useless if you are trying to kill someone, it does provide an effective transport.

Overall:
10 out of 10, couldn’t be much better for a Beta. Hope to see that it is as much fun when the real game comes out.

Take from it what you wish. I think it looks great and seems to stay closer to its Halo 1 roots.

New Halo 2 Maps released

April 18, 2007 6:15 PM

"The new Halo 2 maps should be available by the time you read this. Both are remakes of Halo classics, Hang ‘Em High and Derelict, now renamed Tombstone and Desolation, respectively. The new maps are only available via Xbox Live, and specifically, through the Halo 2 interface (from the Downloads item on the main menu), which while a blessing for original Xbox owners, presents a couple of minor challenges for 360 users. But nothing too scary."
