http://www.planetxbox360.com

Microsoft have released the Xbox 360 numbers for the month of October. Both software and accessory attach rates were up, and Splinter Cell Double Agent took the top selling title spot.

Based on NPD data for October, we have the following statistics:

  • The software attach rate has increased to 5.2 games per console.
  • Likewise, the accessory attach rate rose to 3.0
  • Splinter Cell: Double Agent was the the top selling Xbox 360 game for October, and not only that but it was the #2 title across all console platforms in the US.
The top 5 selling Xbox 360 titles for October were:
  1. Splinter Cell Double Agent (Ubisoft)
  2. Tiger Woods 2007 (EA)
  3. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Activision)
  4. Madden 2007 (EA)
  5. NBA 2K7 (Take-Two)
With the amount of new accessories and games that have been released in November, we can't wait to see what the stats will reveal this time next month!

Halo 3 Public Beta!?

November 16, 2006 2:10 PM

From Bungie.net
" Perhaps the biggest bomb that was dropped today, the MOAB of press announcements, was the indication of a public beta for Halo 3 coming next Spring. What exactly does this mean? Well, again we can’t really get into the details quite yet (notice a theme here?) but we can confirm that our fans will have an opportunity to play Halo 3 multiplayer over Xbox Live BEFORE the final game is available. You’ll be playing a little multiplayer and simultaneously providing us with some valuable data to help our development team. We’re still working out the details on timing and scope and there will be a lot more info coming in the weeks ahead. We can confirm that you will absolutely be required to have an Xbox 360. Probably not a huge surprise."

PS3 Launch

November 16, 2006 2:00 PM

The PS3 comes out tomorrow, November 17th in the United States. It will be in extremely limited supply, and there are reports that it could reach up to $3,000 for a PS3 on ebay. Many people have decided to camp out in front of the stores to get one of these, and perhaps sell them to make a considerable profit.

Xbox Live Update Causes Some 360s to Crash

November 8, 2006 10:17 PM EST

"What's white, costs $499 can be used as a doorstop, paperweight or boat anchor? Some gamers' Xbox 360s after applying this week's dashboard update, apparently. What should have been an occasion for joyous celebration (or at least quiet contentment) turned into a teeth-gnashing nightmare for some unlucky Xbox 360 owners earlier this week.
The latest software update for the console, which as of Tuesday had to be downloaded before logging into Xbox Live, inexplicably cratered thousands of Xbox 360s, rendering them ivory hunks of useless electronics.
After Internet forums lit up with wails of anger and frustration, Microsoft quietly admitted there was a problem with the software update, and replaced it with a safe, non-castrating version on Thursday.
Xbox 360 owners whose consoles got "bricked" by the update - Microsoft says the problem affected less than 1% of all 360 owners - need to call customer support at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX to arrange for repair or replacement.
For those of us who downloaded the update with no problems, the 360's dashboard has been upgraded with a few welcome new features, like better organization of Xbox Live Marketplace content (though it could still use an overhaul), the ability to stream Windows Media Video files from a Windows XP computer to your 360, and 1080p video resolution output support. There are a few dozen other less obvious tweaks as well. "

More Halo 3 Info

November 7, 2006 6:55 PM EST

New leaked information about Halo 3:
New information about Halo 3 Multiplayer: "military" ranks separate from matchmaking, new voting options.
Further information on the saveable movies: they can apparently be re-viewed in either first or third-person or in a "fly-it-yourself bird's eye view".
Game settings: speed can now be assigned for individual players, with gravity and weapons available for tweaking. It has been said that you can even give different handicaps to the winning or losing teams, such as making them more visible by setting them on fire.
The spray-gun of death, aka the Needler: no-longer dual-wieldable, although Bungie apparently says that the new version of the weapon will be stronger, more balanced and "useable".

Leaked Halo 3 Pics

"It has become apparent that the promised gaming magazines are now hitting the stands (or are at least being mailed to subscribers in some areas).  They do contain much awaited and long-promised Halo 3 content.
A word of advice and another word of warning.
These magazines are copyrighted material and are available to their subscribers and people who purchase the magazine.  Scanning images, posting those images, scanning or posting transcriptions of the articles is a violation of the magazine's copyright and ownership of the material."

-From Bungie.net

It seems leaked photos have gotten out on the internet. As such, I will not be posting any pics on this website, but I'm sure you can get them by doing a simple google image search.
