Ok these are some simple steps to follow and im using smartFTP in this tutorial 

1.  First you need a FTP program, the most commonly used are SmartFTP and FlashFXP

2.  When you get your FTP program open it up 

3.  Find the connections tab or adress tab. This is where you put your xbox ip address.

4.  Load up your softmod and find the settings or connections screen.  You will find something that looks like "IP Address" (most likely near MAC Address or Ethernet Address)

5.  Input the Address (most likely something like 192.168.0.100)

6.  Where it says "username" and "password" put xbox on both 

7.  !IMPORTANT! - UNCLICK ANONYMOUS IF IT IS CLICKED 

8. After that press enter or "Connect" and you will see something like: 

C 
E 
F 
X 
Y 
I (If you have a mem card in)

For Halo 2:

1. Once You have established a connection, download the maps from the xbox by going into (in order):
- E
- TDATA
- 4d530064
- $c

(The maps are located within the three folders you see now, 4d53006400000001 etc.)

2.  Copy the maps

3.  Apply the mods to the maps.

4.  Re-Put the modded maps back onto the xbox by dragging them over into the CORRECT folder from whence they came.

5.  Enjoy.
